True Success in Life comes through:

                   *   Seeing More

                   *   Making Better Choices

                   *   Doing what’s most beneficial rather than what’s most comfortable

Overview

This workshop is about being successful but not by the traditional definition of the word success. Usual measurements of success concern accumulation of things: wealth, status, survival, sacrifice, competition, and lots of struggle. For some it even seems that the bigger the struggle the bigger the success in their eyes. But for others the struggle is losing its appeal. More and more people are challenging the old notion of sacrificing today for a happier tomorrow. They are beginning to look for and find ways to build success and enjoy the process as they go. It’s not that this is an easy approach but it’s at least no harder than what they’re already doing and ultimately far more rewarding.

In this workshop we will work with success measurements that include health, balance, enjoyable and fulfilling work, mutually supportive relationships, and having the financial resources to sustain it all.  We will explore a balance of process and result, achievement and enjoyment, work and play. For some, what we explore will be welcome news for others a valuable reminder. There is no question about whether this balance is achievable or beneficial. The only question is what your unique process and rhythm will turn out to be. And that’s the value of a workshop over a book or tele-course. A workshop provides information, opportunities for questions, real life examples and a chance to practice in your own way. It culminates in you having a clear sense of direction and the resources to make simple gradual changes.

There is no “Top 10 Success Secretes” book, tape-set or workshop. There are no secrets. The principles of success are well known, available to everyone and free … and always have been. Yet every so often someone will package them in a different colored wrapper and attempt to sell them for three easy payments of $9.99. There’s nothing wrong with this except that most people who buy the package, read it, get inspired for a week or two and quickly go back to “normal”. The next time they come across the principles they are immune or even repulsed and may not even take a look. The problem is not with the principles it’s with the promises. There are no quick fixes or magic formulas. There are however simple perspectives and disciplines that when gradually incorporated into our daily lives make huge differences in all dimensions of success and satisfaction.

The principles, processes and concepts presented and practiced in this workshop come from a variety of sources and have already been proven to work. This workshop provides a safe, focused environment to review, identify, practice and incorporate the success principles, concepts and disciplines that will benefit you most today and into the future. You leave with a set of realistic expectations and important resources to support you to keep the process moving forward.

There is work to do but it’s no harder than what you’re already doing.

Will this workshop support you? Probably … but take a look at the questions below and the perspective that follows to see what they tell you.

How are your relationships? (Spouse, siblings, parents, children, friends, co-workers ... )

        How are they changing?

Which of them have stopped evolving or have become stagnant?

What have you been tolerating that you no longer wish to tolerate?

With whom can you be completely truthful, ask for what you want, say no without guilt or regret?

Who can you count on to tell you the truth no matter what?

Is there any relationship that has you feeling incomplete, irritated, resigned, estranged, resentful or sad?

How's your work?

Are you excited about what you're creating or contributing?

What level of cooperation, collaboration and partnership exists?

Does work flow or is there a constant need to push or drive?

Do you find enjoyment and fulfillment in what you do each day?

Are you in or approaching a transition?

Do you have a sense of something new coming?

Have you lost interest in something that once was very important?

Are you reluctant to let something go? (thought, grudge, person, career, role)

Are you experiencing any resistance, avoidance or impatience?

How's your environment?

How supportive are the people around you?

How do feel about your surroundings? (home, neighborhood, town ...)

Is your home a sanctuary?

Do you have all of the tools, systems and resources you need?

What did you find? Would an improvement in any of these areas be valuable to you? If so, consider registering or at least calling to discuss specific ways you could benefit from this workshop.

Still need more information? … Here’s a perspective for your consideration:

The Perspective – Why - What - How

A key element of successful living is an understanding of the relationship between Why - What - and How.

We all seem to be pretty proficient at HOW. How’s are actions and processes. They are “how” we get things done and they are necessary to any achievement. The trouble with our expertise with How is that we’ve become How-addicts. The result is that we drive, strive, push, plan, skimp on sleep, and over commit ourselves, while never seeming to find the end. What’s worse is that we accept this as “normal”. We get it all done (or most of it) and it all starts up again next Monday.  Life looks like an incessant stream of action involving, striving, pushing, motivating, convincing, being in two places at once and often disappointing someone especially ourselves.

For many of us, action or “busyness” becomes the objective. Being busy allows us to appear useful, important, strong … It also allows us to avoid: dealing with irritants, confrontations, feelings, unmet needs, difficult situations, embarrassments and uncomfortable conversations. For others it’s just a habit we’re not clear how to quit. The question is, are we thriving or simply surviving.

The main cause of all this struggle is that most of our actions lack quality and precise direction.

Having a well defined WHAT improves the quality of our actions.  Most of us have some experience with WHAT.  What’s are the goals and objectives of our lives… the things that we want to have or achieve. Goals help us to focus our actions in worthwhile directions.

Some of us actually set goals and make plans and have some degree of success. Often that success is limited or comes at a high price … years of struggle, conflict and gallons of coffee … and finally we get what we want. Sometimes we pay the price yet never quite reach the full realization of our desires.

WHAT's seem to eventually evolve into three main categories ... Successes, Failures and Some Day Maybes. The ones we call successes are those that one way or another turn out exactly or close to what we planned or expected. The ones we call failures are those that either turn out differently than we expected or exactly as we feared. And the Some Day Maybe's are those What's that never get the chance to turn out one way or the other.

One reason that What’s either don’t come to fruition or require an enormous amount of effort and sacrifice is that our goals typically lack a well defined WHY.

Why is the most important and least utilized guide to effective action. Common terms for the Why I am speaking of are: Purpose, Vision, Desire, Intention. A child asks Why incessantly. It’s their enormous curiosity at work. Most adults confine their inquiry to What and How and this is where we quickly get off track and overwhelmed. A clear Why is very beneficial in defining effective action and exposing useless distractions.

The time and energy used to define the Why is time well spent. Why clarifies the What and sharpens the How. A well define Why is an absolutely essential ingredient in our ability to enjoy the process.  A clear Why reduces stress, motivates and eliminates a great deal of the confusion of modern life.

Using all three … Why – What – How … is the path to more effective action, success, life balance and prosperity.

Eckhart Tolle puts it this way:

Finding and living in alignment with our inner purpose is the foundation for fulfilling your outer purpose. It is the basis for true success. Without that alignment, you can still achieve certain things through effort, struggle, determination, and sheer hard work or cunning. but there is no joy in such endeavor, and it invariably ends up in some form of suffering.

Does any of this interest you? Have you found a clear enough “Why” to join us at this workshop? If not, two possible reasons are: 1) this workshop is not for you or 2) it is for you and you could use a little additional support to see it. Consider calling or emailing to set up a time to discuss your Why’s and be clear one way or the other.
